Charmille Dance Collective Safeguarding Policy
Introduction
Charmille Dance Collective (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all children who participate in our dance classes. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our procedures for protecting children from harm.
Our Commitment
- We believe that children have the right to feel safe and protected while participating in dance activities at our club.
- We have a zero-tolerance policy for abuse or neglect of any kind.
- We will take all reasonable steps to identify potential risks and ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
Definitions
- Child: Anyone under the age of 18.
Procedures
- Committee Member and Volunteer Training: All committee members and volunteers who have regular contact with children will receive training on safeguarding procedures, including recognizing signs of abuse and reporting concerns.
- DBS Checks: We will conduct Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks on all committee members and volunteers who have regular contact with children.
- Supervision: Children will be supervised by a responsible adult at all times during dance classes and events. This responsible adult may be a committee member, a qualified dance instructor hired by the club, or a volunteer who has been trained on safeguarding procedures and agrees to abide by this policy.
- Reporting Concerns: We encourage everyone to report any concerns about the safety or well-being of a child. Reports can be made to any committee member, volunteer, or directly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Confidentiality: All reports will be handled confidentially and in accordance with our procedures.
- Responding to Concerns: We will take all necessary steps to investigate any reported concerns and take appropriate action to protect the child. This may include contacting the local authority or social services.
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
We have appointed a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who is responsible for overseeing safeguarding within the dance club. The DSL is:

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Safeguarding Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the revised policy at the dance venue or through other reasonable means, such as providing a copy to parents/guardians.
This Safeguarding Policy is effective as of 24th June 2024.
